Golf Course Reminders
As we enter our peak golf season we would like to remind everyone of some ways to keep up our pace of play, and keep our golf course in the best condition possible. Pace of play for all rounds are expected to be four hours or less. The target time is 1:50 for the front nine, a five minute turn time, and 2:00 for the back 9. Weekend mornings are especially busy, it is imperative to keep up with the group in front of you. If you see empty holes in front of you, and multiple groups behind, please do your best to catch up. We will be monitoring turn times for all groups throughout the week not just on the weekends. In any event you need assistance with pace of play please feel free to contact the Pro Shop at 203-264-8081 and we will send a member of the Golf Management Staff out to assist. Always play ready golf, help your partners by watching their tee shots, be ready to hit when its your turn, and park golf carts in a position close to the next tee. A well paced round is always a more enjoyable one!
We would also like to remind everyone to replace their ball marks on greens, as we have been noticing an increased number of unfixed marks. As always please feel free to speak with the Golf Professional staff if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Thank you.
Cart Path Reminder
As a friendly reminder please adhere to the Cart Path rules of staying on the cart paths and rough only during play, especially on all Par 3s. No carts are allowed near the greens on any hole. The Maintenance Staff works very hard on keeping the course in tip top shape for the all the members please, do not disrupt their hard work.

Golf Course Schedule & Projects
Welcome once again from the grounds staff here at Silo Point! Here we are in the heart of the golf season, and we hope that everyone is enjoying the golf course. At the time I am writing this article we have just gone through a week of ninety degrees followed by 2.6” of rain over the weekend. This is the time of year that our staff is always on the lookout for various issues such as disease infestation, excessive water or lack of water as well as directing cart traffic and play both on the greens as well as getting around the golf course. One of the management techniques we use to alleviate compaction and get oxygen to the root zone in the greens is to aerate with very small tines. This practice has proven very beneficial to the greens. It takes very little time for these holes to heal, and the mid-season benefits are great.
As we go through the stressful months of the year for the turf, we ask that everyone do their part in repairing ball marks and divots as well as driving carts in the rough and only in the fairways when we need to cross them. At this time of year, we need to remember that turf is under stress naturally and roots recede in the heat. The more we can do to not add stress by driving on fairways and/or wet areas is a big help!
4th of July is right around the corner as well as more good golf weather! We hope to see everyone out on the course enjoying their round and please feel free to stop and say hi to staff members, they appreciate your support!
